Best Apple Stores in District 1 Saigon - Walking Distance from Tourist Hotels
If you're staying in District 1 and want to buy an Apple product, you don't need a taxi. That's the short version. The longer version: there are at least six apple stores in District 1 Saigon within walking distance of pretty much every major tourist hotel in the area - and I've walked to all of them.
I spent three trips to Ho Chi Minh City buying various Apple products. A MacBook Air M4 on the first trip. An iPhone 16 Pro Max on the second. AirPods Pro 2 and an Apple Watch on the third. Every single purchase happened within a 15-minute walk of wherever I was staying. And every time, I saved real money compared to buying the same thing back in India.
Here's the full breakdown of which stores are near which hotels, what you'll pay, and which ones are actually worth your time.
Why District 1 Is Perfect for Apple Shopping on Foot
District 1 is where almost every tourist stays in Ho Chi Minh City. It's also where the major Apple authorized retailers have concentrated their flagship stores. This isn't a coincidence - the retailers know tourists buy Apple products here, and they've set up shop accordingly.
The main tourist zones in District 1 form a rough triangle:
- Ben Thanh Market area - budget to mid-range hotels, backpacker zone along Bui Vien and Pham Ngu Lao
- Nguyen Hue Walking Street / Dong Khoi area - mid-range to luxury hotels, the commercial heart of Saigon
- Hai Ba Trung / Pasteur Street corridor - newer boutique hotels, slightly quieter but still central
Every Apple store I'm covering sits inside or adjacent to this triangle. The farthest walk from any hotel in these zones to any store on my list is about 20 minutes. Most are under 10.
Tip: If you're choosing a hotel specifically with Apple shopping in mind, stay near Nguyen Hue Walking Street or along Le Loi Street. You'll have three stores within a 5-minute walk and the rest under 12 minutes.
The Stores: Location, Vibe, and What They're Good For
ShopDunk - The Closest Thing to an Apple Store
Flagship location: 76 Nguyen Du, District 1
Walking distance from major hotels:
- Rex Hotel (Nguyen Hue): 4 minutes
- Liberty Central Saigon (Pasteur): 6 minutes
- New World Saigon Hotel (Le Lai): 10 minutes
- Backpacker area (Bui Vien): 12 minutes
ShopDunk is Vietnam's Apple Premium Reseller. The store layout deliberately mimics Apple's retail design - light wood tables, products laid out for you to touch and test, staff in matching shirts who mostly speak decent English. It's the most "Apple Store" experience you'll get in Vietnam since there's no official Apple retail location yet.
But the experience isn't why I keep going back. It's the prices. ShopDunk consistently has the lowest or near-lowest prices on iPhones and is very competitive on MacBooks. Their promotions are genuine - not the "discount from an inflated price" trick you see at some smaller shops.
Sample prices (March 2026):
- MacBook Air M4 16GB/256GB: 27,490,000₫ (approximately ₹79,720)
- iPhone 16 Pro Max 256GB: 34,490,000₫ (approximately ₹1,00,020)
- AirPods Pro 2 USB-C: 5,990,000₫ (approximately ₹17,370)
- Apple Watch Series 10 GPS 42mm: 10,990,000₫ (approximately ₹31,870)
They issue VAT refund invoices without hassle. Just ask at the counter when you're paying. I've gotten mine within 5 minutes every time.
Pro tip: ShopDunk's Nguyen Du location is their flagship, but they have other District 1 branches too. The flagship has the best stock and the most experienced English-speaking staff, so go there first.
FPT Shop - Best for Tourist-Friendly Service
Key District 1 location: 164 Le Loi, District 1
Walking distance from major hotels:
- Hotel Majestic (Dong Khoi): 7 minutes
- Rex Hotel (Nguyen Hue): 5 minutes
- Pullman Saigon Centre (Le Lai): 4 minutes
- Ben Thanh area hotels: 3 minutes
FPT Shop doesn't look like an Apple Store. It looks like what it is: a big Vietnamese electronics chain. Fluorescent lights, promotional banners, staff in branded polo shirts, phones and laptops lined up on display stands behind glass. Not glamorous.
And honestly? I don't care. FPT Shop has been my go-to for MacBooks specifically because their prices on Mac products are often the lowest in the city. Their Le Loi branch near the district 1 HCMC apple store cluster is perfectly positioned - you can walk there from Ben Thanh Market in about 3 minutes.
The real advantage for tourists: FPT Shop's staff are used to dealing with foreign buyers. The Le Loi branch gets a steady stream of tourists, and they've got the VAT invoice process down to a science. I've had staff proactively ask if I need the refund paperwork, which doesn't happen at every retailer.
Sample prices (March 2026):
- MacBook Air M4 16GB/256GB: 27,690,000₫ (approximately ₹80,300)
- iPhone 16 Pro Max 256GB: 34,690,000₫ (approximately ₹1,00,600)
- MacBook Pro M4 Pro 14" 24GB/512GB: 44,990,000₫ (approximately ₹1,30,470)
- iPad Air M3 11" 128GB: 15,990,000₫ (approximately ₹46,370)

CellphoneS - The Price Match Champions
Key District 1 location: 112-114 Hai Ba Trung, District 1
Walking distance from major hotels:
- Hotel Continental Saigon (Dong Khoi): 5 minutes
- Sheraton Saigon (Dong Khoi): 6 minutes
- Lotte Legend Hotel (Ton Duc Thang): 10 minutes
- Backpacker area (Bui Vien): 15 minutes
CellphoneS has built a reputation for aggressive pricing, and their Hai Ba Trung branch is right in the heart of tourist territory. The store is medium-sized, well-organized, and stocks the full Apple lineup including configurations that smaller stores sometimes don't carry.
What makes CellphoneS special is their willingness to negotiate. This isn't a formal thing - there's no "haggle zone" or anything like that. But if you've got a screenshot of a lower price from ShopDunk or FPT Shop, show it to the CellphoneS staff. I've gotten them to match competitor prices three times out of four. The fourth time they were already cheapest.
The Hai Ba Trung location is about a 5-minute walk from the Dong Khoi luxury hotel strip and right on the saigon apple store near hotel corridor that runs through the eastern side of District 1.
Sample prices (March 2026):
- MacBook Air M4 16GB/256GB: 27,590,000₫ (approximately ₹80,010)
- iPhone 16 Pro Max 256GB: 34,390,000₫ (approximately ₹99,730)
- AirPods 4 with ANC: 3,890,000₫ (approximately ₹11,280)

The Gioi Di Dong (Mobile World) - Biggest Chain, Everywhere
Key District 1 locations: 60 Le Loi and multiple branches
Walking distance from major hotels:
- The Le Loi branch is virtually next door to Ben Thanh Market hotels
- Rex Hotel: 6 minutes
- Pretty much any hotel in District 1: under 15 minutes (they have branches everywhere)
The Gioi Di Dong is Vietnam's largest electronics retailer. Over 3,500 stores. You can't walk two blocks in District 1 without passing one. This is both their strength and their weakness.
Strength: you'll always find one nearby. Weakness: the experience is mass-market. Think bright lights, glass counters, promo stickers on every surface. The staff at smaller branches might not speak much English, and the Apple selection can be limited to just the most popular configurations.
For Apple shopping, stick to their larger branches on Le Loi or Nguyen Trai. These carry the full range and have staff who've dealt with tourists before. I've found their prices tend to be middle-of-the-pack - not the cheapest, not the most expensive. They're a solid backup if your preferred store doesn't have the configuration you want in stock.
Sample prices (March 2026):
- MacBook Air M4 16GB/256GB: 27,890,000₫ (approximately ₹80,880)
- iPhone 16 Pro Max 256GB: 34,590,000₫ (approximately ₹1,00,310)
- iPad Pro M4 11" 256GB: 25,990,000₫ (approximately ₹75,370)
Di Dong Viet - Worth the Slightly Longer Walk
Key District 1 location: 256 Nguyen Trai, District 1
Walking distance from major hotels:
- Ben Thanh area hotels: 8 minutes
- Backpacker area (Bui Vien): 6 minutes
- Nguyen Hue area hotels: 15 minutes
- Dong Khoi luxury strip: 18 minutes
Di Dong Viet is on the southern edge of the main tourist zone, along Nguyen Trai Street heading toward District 3. It's the farthest walk for anyone staying in the Dong Khoi area, but if you're near Ben Thanh or the backpacker zone, it's actually quite close.
I'll be direct: Di Dong Viet sometimes has the absolute best prices in the city, especially during promotional periods. They run flash sales and bundle deals that undercut the bigger chains. But their English-speaking staff situation is hit or miss, and the VAT invoice process can be slower than at ShopDunk or FPT Shop.
If you're buying a high-value item like a MacBook Pro where even small price differences mean real money, it's worth the walk to check their price.

Here's how all these stores relate to the three main hotel zones in District 1:
Price Comparison: Same Product, Different Stores
This is the part that actually matters. Here's what you'll pay for the most popular Apple products across all five retailers in District 1. These are March 2026 prices - for live, updated prices, check our comparison tool which pulls from all stores every 48 hours.
| Product | ShopDunk | FPT Shop | CellphoneS | The Gioi Di Dong | Di Dong Viet | |---------|----------|----------|------------|-----------------|--------------| | MacBook Air M4 16/256 | 27,490,000₫ (₹79,720) | 27,690,000₫ (₹80,300) | 27,590,000₫ (₹80,010) | 27,890,000₫ (₹80,880) | 27,290,000₫ (₹79,140) | | iPhone 16 Pro Max 256GB | 34,490,000₫ (₹1,00,020) | 34,690,000₫ (₹1,00,600) | 34,390,000₫ (₹99,730) | 34,590,000₫ (₹1,00,310) | 34,290,000₫ (₹99,440) | | AirPods Pro 2 USB-C | 5,990,000₫ (₹17,370) | 6,090,000₫ (₹17,660) | 5,890,000₫ (₹17,080) | 6,190,000₫ (₹17,950) | 5,790,000₫ (₹16,790) | | iPad Air M3 11" 128GB | 15,790,000₫ (₹45,790) | 15,990,000₫ (₹46,370) | 15,890,000₫ (₹46,080) | 16,090,000₫ (₹46,660) | 15,690,000₫ (₹45,500) | | Apple Watch Series 10 GPS 42mm | 10,990,000₫ (₹31,870) | 11,190,000₫ (₹32,450) | 10,890,000₫ (₹31,580) | 11,090,000₫ (₹32,160) | 10,790,000₫ (₹31,290) |
A few things jump out from this table. Di Dong Viet consistently comes in cheapest, but by small margins - typically 200,000-400,000₫ (₹580-₹1,160) less than the most expensive option. CellphoneS is usually the second cheapest. ShopDunk sits in the middle but has the best shopping experience.
The biggest price gap is on MacBooks. The difference between the cheapest (Di Dong Viet at 27,290,000₫) and most expensive (The Gioi Di Dong at 27,890,000₫) for the MacBook Air M4 is 600,000₫ - that's about ₹1,740. Enough to buy a nice case and still have change left over.
Warning: These prices change frequently. Stores run promotions, adjust to competitor pricing, and sometimes have different prices online vs. in-store. Always check the current price on our Vietnam Apple price tracker before walking over.
Payment Methods: What Works at Each Store
This matters if you're an Indian tourist. Not all payment methods work everywhere, and getting this wrong can cost you in forex fees.
All five stores accept:
- Cash in VND (best rate - no forex fees at all)
- Vietnamese bank cards
- Visa and Mastercard credit/debit cards
ShopDunk and FPT Shop also accept:
- UnionPay
- QR code payments (VNPay, MoMo)
- Some international wallets
What you should actually do: Pay in VND. Either withdraw cash from an ATM (BIDV and Vietcombank ATMs have the best rates for international cards) or pay with a zero-forex-fee card like Niyo or Fi. If the card machine asks you to pay in INR or USD, always decline and choose VND - that's the dynamic currency conversion trap and it'll cost you 3-5% extra.
For the full breakdown on cards and cash, read our guide on paying VND or USD at Vietnamese Apple stores.
Tips for Tourists Shopping Apple Stores in District 1
After multiple trips, here's what I've learned about shopping for Apple products on foot in District 1.
Go Early in the Morning
Stores open between 8:30 AM and 9:30 AM. Go early. The air conditioning is cranked up inside every store, but the walk between them can be punishing after 11 AM, especially from April to September. I've done the midday version of this walk in July and it's brutal - 35 degrees with 80% humidity.
Visit at Least Three Stores
Don't buy at the first store you walk into. Even if our comparison tool shows one store is cheapest, in-store prices sometimes differ from online prices. And promotions change daily. Hit at least ShopDunk, FPT Shop, and CellphoneS before making your decision.
Ask About Bundle Deals
Every store offers bundle deals that aren't listed online. Buy a MacBook and AirPods together? You'll often get 200,000-500,000₫ (₹580-₹1,450) off the combined price. Buy an iPhone with a case and screen protector? Same thing. These discounts are small individually but they add up. I saved about 400,000₫ (₹1,160) on a MacBook + AirPods bundle at ShopDunk last trip.
Get the VAT Invoice Before Leaving the Store
This is critical if you want to claim the VAT refund at Tan Son Nhat airport. The store must issue a special tax refund invoice at the time of purchase. You can't go back and get it later. Tell the staff upfront: "I need a VAT refund invoice for tourist tax refund." ShopDunk and FPT Shop handle this smoothly. At smaller The Gioi Di Dong branches, you might need to be more persistent.
Bring Your Passport
You'll need it for the VAT invoice and sometimes for the purchase itself. Some stores require passport details for high-value transactions. I always carry mine when Apple shopping in District 1 - saves the hassle of running back to the hotel.
Which Store Should You Actually Go To?
After all of this, here's my honest recommendation based on what you're buying.
Buying a MacBook or iPad: Start at FPT Shop on Le Loi. They have the best Mac pricing, good English, and the ben thanh area apple store accessibility means you can combine it with market shopping. Then walk to CellphoneS on Hai Ba Trung to compare.
Buying an iPhone: Start at CellphoneS or ShopDunk. Both consistently have the best iPhone prices. CellphoneS is often a hair cheaper, but ShopDunk's experience is better and they're more reliable on stock.
Buying accessories (AirPods, Watch, Pencil): Honestly, go to Di Dong Viet if you're near the backpacker zone, or CellphoneS if you're in the Dong Khoi area. Accessories have the widest price spread between stores, and these two tend to be cheapest.
If you only have time for one store: ShopDunk at 76 Nguyen Du. Best overall experience, competitive prices across the board, reliable VAT invoice process, and central enough that it's walkable from anywhere in District 1.
You can always double-check current prices before heading out using our live price comparison tool - it covers all five of these retailers and updates regularly.
The Walk Back to Your Hotel
One last thing. After you've made your purchase, you're walking back to your hotel carrying an expensive Apple product through a busy city. Saigon is generally safe, but use common sense. Keep the bag close, don't flash the product on the street, and consider a Grab back to your hotel if it's getting dark or you're carrying multiple purchases.
And if you bought a MacBook, don't unbox it until you've cleared the VAT refund at the airport. I know the temptation is real. Resist it. That sealed box could be worth 8-10% back in your pocket at the airport refund counter.
The apple stores in District 1 Saigon within walking distance of tourist hotels make HCMC one of the easiest cities in Southeast Asia for Apple shopping. No taxis needed, no complicated transit, no language barriers at the big stores. Just lace up your shoes, check the prices on our tool, and start walking.
